You don’t need to select a folder or organizer to add assets, but you may if you want to.
-

-
Select Upload, select individual files to add to your catalog, then click Choose for Upload.

How to tell the difference
How can you tell whether the catalog you are using is a Watch Folder catalog or a vault catalog?
Click Add at the bottom left of the Portfolio client window.
If the resulting menu has three entries (New Gallery, New Watch Folder, and New Subfolder) then you are using a Watch Folder catalog.
If the menu has only two entries (New Gallery and New Subfolder) then you are using a vault catalog.
What else to know
After you have selected files to upload or a folder to ingest, Portfolio may present you with a dialog that includes one or more metadata fields (such as Description or Keywords).
If this is the case, it means that your Catalog Administrator wants you to enter this metadata before uploading the assets.
If a field has an asterisk next to it, then your Catalog Administrator requires you to enter something in that field. You won’t be able to submit your upload without entering something.
Portfolio applies the metadata that you enter to all the assets that you upload.
Click Submit to upload the new assets and apply the metadata to them, or click Cancel to cancel the upload process.
